I’m often ask why do we do what we do. It reminds me of the experience I was involved with.
A mother with three little children living in Boston. A 5 year old daughter, a 3 year old daughter and a 18 month old son. Her husband became an alcoholic and was beating the kids so they would be good. One night in a drunken stuper he proceed to unmercifully spank their 5 year old because she spilt her milk. The mother (we will call her June) stepped between them to protect her child, even though she was 4 months pregnant.. The husband beat her so bad that she was in the hospital for over a week and almost lost her unborn son. The children were put into foster care while June recovered. We heard of the situation after Social Services called June’s sister clear across the country to see if she had enough money to buy tickets for June and her 3 children.
June’s sister had buried her husband who had died of stomach cancer just a month earlier. She was trying to make it on her own with 4 little kids of her own. She had no money to send them. Three weeks later the social services called June’s sister again. This time to find out that if they paid for the tickets could June’s sister give June and her kids a place to live? June's sister said yes without hesitating. June and her children got to her sisters with nothing but the clothes on their backs. I can’t think of the stress that both of these single mothers went through and continued to go through for years. We can now help with the following.
To assist single parent family with children of the US and Mexico with clothing, food, and household goods. This is accomplished by donations both in money and in kind. In addition to this fundamental needs we help support families in crisis due to family violence and /or abuse. We accomplish this by working closely with government agencies to identify these families (with children). We help them with food, clothes, and Household etc. When they are ready to start a new life we furnish them with household goods. These range from furniture, kitchen ware, beds, bedding, ECT.
